Saturday, October 5th: Arrive in Lisbon, Portugal | Transfer to Hotel

Arrival Day - Transfers will be arranged based on the arrival flight times.
Once you have arrived into Lisbon Airport you will be picked up and taken to your hotel where you will enjoy your remainder of day at your leisure. Your hotel is located on Avenida de Libertade (the Champs Elysees of Lisbon). Your hotel is in a great location from which to explore the very heart of Lisbon.

Sunday, October 6th: Lisbon - Tuk Tuk Tour

Enjoy a leisurely morning before we begin our day.
10.00 AM - Today we get to explore Lisbon by Tuk Tuk. A really great way to immerse yourself in the areas of Barrio Alto and the Alfama District. The Alfama District is the oldest part of the city. A colourful and charming area with narrow streets and scenic viewpoints overlooking the city and the River Tagus.

After exploring, we end with a wine tasting and some local Portuguese food to cap off this memorable experience.
Enjoy your evening at leisure.

Monday, October 7th: Lisbon - City Tour of Lisbon, including Belem Tower, Monument to the Discoveries and Jeromino's Monastery

Buffet breakfast at the hotel This morning we will embark on our city tour of Lisbon by coaching including viewing the Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries. We will then enter Jeronimo's Monastery for a guided visit.

Nearby we will be enjoy a coffee break at "Pasteis de Belem" and get to taste the most famous and original recipe of "Pasteis de Belem". We can attest, these are delicious and definitely lived up to the expectations. 

You then have the choice to return to the hotel by bus or we can drop you off at the "Time Out Market" to have lunch at your leisure. Here many of Lisbon's top restaurants and bars are all under one roof enabling to sample different dishes.  The remainder of day is at your leisure. Its a nice leisurely stroll to return back to your hotel if you decided to get dropped off at the "Time Out Market".

Tuesday, October 8th: Lisbon - Day of Leisure - Fado Dinner Show

This evening enjoy an included Fado Dinner Show at Clube de Fado in the Alfama District.

Wednesday, October 9th: Lisbon - Cascais - Sintra - Coimbra

After your buffet breakfast at the hotel we will depart Lisbon to make our way to Cascais.  8:30 AM: Depart for Cascais (about a 45 minute drive). Upon arrival in Cascais we will do a brief city tour before continuing on to Sintra. Sintra is a protected UNESCO Heritage Site. For centuries Portuguese Royals found Sintra the perfect place to escape to. Fabulous mansions, lavish gardens, craggy hilltops and magnificent views. We will do a walk tour of Sintra upon arrival.  12:00 PM: Lunch at a local restaurant in Sintra  1:30 PM:  After lunch, we will take a shuttle to visit the Pena Palace from the late 1800's.

2:00 PM: Included visit of the Pena Palace. Located at the top of a hill. The German born Prince Ferdinand built this palace. Consisting of Gothic towers, Renaissance Domes, Moorish Arches and Manueline architecture. The Pena Palace was classified as a National Monument in 1910 and is the most important centre of the Sintra Cultural Landscape, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1995. After your visit return you will return by Shuttle to Sintra’s town centre, where our coach will be waiting  4:00 PM: We will make our way to Coimbra, one of Portugal's oldest cities and your home for the night.  We will arrive in Coimbra around 6:30 PM.

Thursday, October 10th: Coimbra - Porto

Coimbra was once the proud capital of the Portuguese nation. It is located in the centre of Portugal. Coimbra is often called the City of Knowledge since its home to the oldest University in Portugal, the symbol of excellence, and classified as a a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
8:30 AM: Enjoy a short walking tour of Coimbra. Passing by the downtown of Coimbra and the “Sé Velha” (Old Cathedral) of Coimbra.
10:30 AM: We will depart Coimbra and make our way to to Porto. 
12:30 PM: Upon arrival in the lovely city of Porto we will enjoy a lunch at Cantina 32 or similar.
2:30 PM: Get to know this city and its various neighbourhoods on a half day city tour. Porto is located at the mouth of the Douro River and is where the famous Port Wine Cellars are located. This charming city is sure to captivate you as you enjoy its vibrant feel, lively restaurants, squares and scenic vistas everywhere you look. 
6:30 PM: Arrival at your hotel for check in. The remainder of your evening is at leisure. Perhaps you will head to a local restaurant along the water this evening.

Friday, October 11th: Porto - Taylors Wine Tasting and 1828 Restaurant Dinner

Today enjoy your day at leisure to explore Porto on your own. Later this evening we will have a special evening and will cross the bridge over to Vila Nova de Gaia where the Port Wine Cellars are located.

6:30 PM: We will depart our hotel by coach to Taylors wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia  7:00 PM: Taylors Wine Tasting in a private room. 8:00 PM: We will then then take a very short walk to enjoy our memorable dinner at the “1828 Restaurant”, known as the "Best Steakhouse in Portugal".

Saturday, October 12th: Porto - Board your Scenic Luxury River Cruise

The city was named by the Romans for its port, which was an integral link to Lisbon in the south. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its 2,000-year history and many well-preserved buildings and monuments. Sunday, October 13th: Regua

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Crystal Dining this morning as the ship cruises towards Regua. Relax in the sunshine on the Sun Deck as you enjoy the scenery of the Douro rolling by.

Regua is the largest of the riverside towns and is an excellent base for exploring the Douro Valley. This region is famous for producing Port wine, with rolling vineyards on the terraced hillsides and wineries dating back to the 18th century. Upon arrival this afternoon you can enjoy a visit to the excellent Douro Museum.

Learn about the history, culture and traditions of the region of the Douro Valley. It is set in a fully restored 18th century building that once housed The Company, which was responsible for the demarcation of Douro wines, as well as being a place where wines and winemaking tools were stored. After the museum visit, enjoy a drink of local port or port tonic on the terrace.

Monday, October 14th: Regua - Vega de Terron

Awake in Regua, where the ship has remained docked overnight. Why not ask your butler to bring coffee to your suite if you would like a slower start to the day? Explore the Douro Valley today with a choice of excursions that including visiting one of the most beautiful towns in Northern Portugal, exploring an enchanting palace or kayaking along a scenic river.

Excursion to Lamego: Take a coach to the town of Lamego, nestled among terraced vineyards that were the first to produce world-famous port wine. The city prospered in the 18th century and it’s a fascinating place to wander, with ancient buildings and monuments, including a Baroque staircase and Rococo church. You will have the option to take a self-guided tour of the museum and will be offered a tasting of bola, a donut-like pastry. Kayaking along the Pinhao River: Explore this beautiful region from a different perspective as you glide past impressive landscapes of terraced vineyards, patchworked farmland and sprawling estates via kayak on the Pinhao River, a tributary of the Douro. Mateus Palace: Transfer by coach to Mateus Palace, considered one of the best examples of Baroque civil architecture in Portugal. Built in the first half of the 18th century, the former family home features rooms with original furniture and ornately carved ceilings; a library that contains one of the first illustrated editions of Os Lusiadas, Portugal’s most significant epic poem; and a manicured garden dotted with statues, hedges, a cypress tunnel and reflective ponds.

Tuesday, October 15th: Vega de Terron - Salamanca

Wake this morning in the city of Vega de Terron, located on the border of Portugal and Spain and at the confluence of the Douro and Águeda rivers. This small town remains beautifully unspoiled, with quiet streets, lush landscapes and welcoming locals. It’s a popular gateway to the university town of Salamanca, which you will have the opportunity to explore today.

Salamanca Full Day Excursion: Known as the ‘golden city’ for its honey-coloured sandstone architecture, Salamanca is famous for its university, which is the third oldest in the world, founded in 1218. Salamanca is a vibrant place with a young population – around one-fifth of its residents are students. It’s home to two cathedrals, one dating to the 12th century and the other to the 16th century, which you will see on today’s guided tour. You will also visit a market to taste local delicacies such as olives, cheese and smoked ham, and you’ll have free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Freixo de Espada à Cinta with silk museum: Visit the village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, a town with a curious name that translates to ‘ash tree girded with sword’. The town is also the only place in Portugal where handcrafted silk is still processed entirely by hand, and on this guided tour you will visit a silk museum before returning to the ship for lunch.

Wednesday, October 16th: Pocinho

Wake in the village of Pocinho. There’s not much to the village, which was established as the terminus of the Douro Railway in 1887, though it’s a great location to explore more of the Douro Valley. Perhaps savour a coffee delivered to your suite by your personal butler before heading off for the day.

Explore your way with one of this morning’s Scenic Freechoice excursions: Côa Valley Museum: Transfer by coach to the Côa Valley Museum. Opened in 2010, this museum is one of the largest in Portugal, housed in a contemporary building designed to blend into the landscape. The museum is a great introduction to the region’s paleolithic rock art sites through original artefacts and digital technology; on your visit you’ll also enjoy a pre-historic workshop.

Tastes of the Côa Valley: Visit Casa Painova estate for a sweet almond workshop to see how these nuts are harvested and used in desserts and pastries. Enjoy a tasting of almonds, olives and fruit products.
This afternoon, relax as you cruise towards  Pinhão; perhaps enjoy a regional port wine in the Panorama Lounge & Bar or spend some time in your suite. Thursday, October 17th: Pinhão

This morning you are docking in  Pinhão, set on one of the prettiest parts of the Douro River. This small village is surrounded by terraced vineyards and produces exceptional port wine. Look out for the charming riverside train station, which is decorated with azulejos (hand-painted tiles) depicting the annual grape harvest. This morning, you have the special opportunity to visit the charming village of Provesende, located on a plateau with spectacular views of the region’s fertile rolling landscape. Wander through the village and visit the church where you’ll watch a piano recital, help to bake bola (donut-like pastries) in the old bakery, learn how traditional handicraft is made, and look inside the historic manor house where you’ll enjoy the bola that you made earlier. This afternoon your luxurious Scenic Space-Ship will make its way back to Porto in time for your magnificent Scenic Enrich event.

Classical concert in Sao Francisco Church: From the ship, take a short walk (with some stairs) to Sao Francisco Church, which is one of the most iconic sites in Porto.
