Johannesburg is situated in the province of Gauteng, and is home to the world’s biggest urban forest of approximately 10 million trees. Johannesburg is a massive city where opposites collide to create an interesting city of contradictions and extraordinary charm. The city is the economic powerhouse of South Africa, and as a result has some of the most high- end shops and restaurants in the country. This urban sophistication stands in stark contrast with the many local street vendors and informal African spaza shops. The city has a surprisingly diverse range of activities on offer: Popular stops include the sobering Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, Nelson Mandela Square, and Sandton City. Townships tours are recommended and Maboneng Precinct, east of the city. Maboneng means ‘place of light’ and this district is becoming known as Johannesburg’s centre of creativity for urban artists.

Encompassing a huge region across the Western Cape, stretching up the West Coast, up and east into the Klein Karoo, and right down into the Hermanus and Overberg regions, the Cape Winelands is a profoundly special place. Set in and amongst quaint and traditional Cape Dutch houses, magical trees and vineyards and majestic mountain surroundings, you might think you are in Bordeaux when in fact you have found a truly South African piece of heaven. The country's famed and best known wine regions are Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. The numerous wine farms offer something for every taste and style.
Stellenbosch, your home for the next 3 nights, is often described as the crown jewel of the Cape Winelands. It is a world class wine, art and hospitality destination and has exceptional examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture along its oak-lined streets. Stellenbosch also has a youthful exuberance thanks to the prestigious University. Today, it has a wealth of wine estates that beckon with the promise of pleasing palates as well as art galleries, designer boutiques and fascinating museums. Gastronomy is an art form in Stellenbosch and plates are usually masterpieces of passion and creativity. Stellenbosch is an aesthetic beauty and there are a number of hiking trails in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve for those that want to immerse themselves in the landscape.
