Incredible Dining on the Gauguin
Begin your day with a lavish breakfast as you take in glorious views of the pristine islands and crystal lagoons of French Polynesia. Warm ocean breezes and culinary creations fill your senses during lunch. Dinner is an elegant affair with romantic lighting, linens, china, and crystal. A blend of international fare and local cuisine is complemented with featured wines. You are sure to savor all of the expertly prepared meals on board, which are always presented by a warm and solicitous staff.
Consider your spacious stateroom your own private escape. It was designed to enhance your experience of paradise. Butlers and an in-suite bar setup are provided for guests in Categories B and above. Canapés, anyone?
It’s not really a vacation until you indulge in room service—go ahead, it’s available 24 hours a day, with no extra charge. Take advantage of those island views and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in bed served with all your favorites: made-to-order eggs, fresh fruit, crispy bacon, warm pastries, hot coffee, and more!
A culinary experience on the high seas with Paul Gauguin Cruises is truly something extraordinary. And if you are celebrating a birthday, a personal milestone, an anniversary, or your honeymoon, we are renowned for the extra touches and attention to detail that make every occasion special.
Paul Gauguin Cruises is proud to offer local ingredients in many of our dishes. Experience fresh vanilla from local plantations infused in specialty dishes such as lobster with vanilla sauce and our famous crème brûlée.
Juices made from scratch with fresh fruit and vegetables at La Palette each morning quickly become a favorite way to start the day. It is just one of the ways Paul Gauguin Cruises helps you stay healthy and fit during your cruise. You can also enjoy a morning workout in our fitness center, try paddleboarding from our marina deck, or stay active with a hiking or snorkeling adventure. With so many ways to stay fit, you can allow yourself to sample all of the fine cuisine on board and reward yourself with nightly dessert!
Each voyage, the Executive Chef offers a moonfish culinary demonstration. Moonfish are large, round fish with a silver body accented by white dots and deep crimson fins. The Chef demonstrates how to filet this special fish during the presentation, and that evening, guests are able to order it from the menu.
Crepes Suzette. Banana flambé. Caramelized pears. You don’t want to miss afternoon tea time—a daily ritual with delectable finger sandwiches and lavish desserts. Consider this a gift to yourself—a chance to slow down, enjoy the breathtaking views of the sea, and savor a wide selection of scrumptious treats!
A latte with your breakfast, a Mai-Tai poolside, or sparkling wine at sail away? A waiter always magically appears just as you think of it. Remembering your favorite beverage is only the beginning of their memorable service. The ship’s staff takes pride in anticipating your wishes. The entire crew exudes genuine friendliness and warmth, and their main goal is attending to all your needs so you can relax, recharge, and rejuvenate without a care in the world.
Just mention Bora Bora and watch someone’s face light up. The Gauguin sails Tahiti, Bora Bora, and the Society Islands year round, so it should be no surprise that the ship offers guests several unique dining experiences that offer island views of this enchanting destination. Making reservations at Le Grill when the ship overnights in Bora Bora may reward you with a poolside table under the stars. And for one couple on board, the chance to reserve our private marina dinner featuring a La Veranda menu, wine, and a personal waiter makes for one dreamy evening.
A highlight of every cruise is a visit to our private island, Motu Mahana. Fresh coconut drinks, full and floating bars, and a barbecue feast await each guest. Grilled meats, an array of salads, vegetables, side dishes, fresh fruit, breads, and desserts are served by the ship’s own staff, in a tropical island setting, and are sure to go down as one of your most memorable meals. And you can even learn the traditional way of opening a coconut and the different ways it can be used in dishes.
One of the highlights of each voyage aboard The Gauguin is Polynesian Night. This is the night that the history, culture, songs, dance, and arts and crafts of the enchanting people of the South Pacific are celebrated. Enjoy a tropical cocktail and pre-dinner music in both the piano bar and La Palette lounge. Local Tahitians come aboard and help guests make complimentary fresh flower crowns called heis, as well as leis. During this evening, a multi-course Polynesian dining experience is offered in all three dining venues aboard The Gauguin, and Polynesian-style attire is encouraged.
Paul Gauguin Cruises welcomes special guests aboard select sailings of The Gauguin that specialize in food and wine. Our culinary hosts include chefs Jean-Pierre Vigato and Giuliano Hazan, who both will offer cooking demonstrations and renowned culinary techniques on different sailings. Winemakers from Allegrini Wines, Pfeiffer Winery and Vineyards, Gauguine Wines, and Constellation Brands and Robert Mondavi Winery will share their wine expertise during lectures and tastings on select voyages.
All meals are included on board as part of Paul Gauguin Cruises’ all-inclusive value, and dining aboard The Gauguin is unhurried and relaxed. You may enjoy the pleasures of dining without the regimentation of assigned seating or having to rush through your dessert. Vegetarian, light and healthy, gluten-free, vegan, and low-carb options are also available. Complimentary wines and spirits are served with dinner and throughout the cruise. And our onboard Sommelier is available for pairing suggestions.
Elegant décor accented with wood tones, ceramics, chandeliers, crisp linens, and the tantalizing trademark fare of our talented chefs await you in our exquisite main dining room L’Etoile. Open for dinner, it features a full-course, à la carte menu of gourmet delights, including appetizers, soups, salads, international specialties, entrées, a cheese course, and dessert.
Expansive views from floor-to-ceiling windows and a choice of culinary creations fill your senses in our indoor/outdoor dining venue La Veranda. It’s perfect for enjoying a breakfast or a themed lunch buffet with à la carte options, many of which are inspired by the destinations we visit. In the evening, it is transformed into a romantic dining venue with intimate tables of two to six with white tablecloths, china, silverware, and sparkling stemware. A sophisticated menu is served, which is designed by celebrity Chef Vigato. Guests can choose from a degustation menu or an à la carte menu of entrées, soups, specialties, and desserts. The cuisine is artfully presented, and guests receive the most diligent attention.
Greet the sun with a delicious breakfast buffet and à la carte options at Le Grill. Or enjoy lunch by the pool with a choice of grilled favorites, salads, and fresh tropical fruits. At night, Le Grill becomes an intimate restaurant serving Polynesian specialties in a relaxed atmosphere. Teak tables lined with Polynesian table runners and glowing sconces set the tone for tropical romance.
The Gauguin is truly an extension of the French Polynesian islands we visit, which allows our guests to experience the scenic beauty and flavors of the islands. And every member of our staff is dedicated to celebrating and surprising you with a cruise experience you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
